J. Fernando Niebla was born in Nogales, Sonora and came to the United States (USA) at 12 years of age. He finished high school in Nogales, Arizona and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona. Mr. Niebla worked 18 years for Rockwell International in the U.S. in the aerospace industry with assignments in California and Cape Kennedy, Florida, where he supervised over 120 engineers and technicians during the Apollo Moon project.
After leaving Rockwell International in 1978, Mr. Niebla founded two successful high technology companies, Infotec Development Inc. (IDI), specialized centers for mission control of the satellites and complex computer network systems. IDI had offices in the U.S. and Mexico City and grew annual revenues of $ 135 million before it was merged with a public company in 1996.Following the merger, Mr. Niebla founded Infotec Commercial Systems (ICS) to provide technology training and certification in the U.S.. ICS increased its annual revenues of $ 25 million U.S. dollars before leaving in 1999. During this time Mr. Niebla was also co-founder of CompuServe Mexico, later sold to AOL.
Since 1996, Mr. Niebla has served as a member of the Board of Directors of two companies listed on the Stock Exchange in New York, an investment company and life insurance, a public holding company which owns four hospitals and he is also an investor and adviser to a high growth companies of high technology. In addition, Mr. Niebla often works as a consultant to small businesses that are exploring opportunities for expansion.
